The club’s annual tea serves dual purposes: first, as a place for current members to enjoy each other’s company in a convivial setting of opulently decorated tables, and second, as a membership drive where members are encouraged to invite guests.

Held annually in partnership with the Bonita Museum, participants are invited to try their hand at floral interpretation of art pieces created by the Chula Vista Art Guild.

The club maintains a demonstration garden in the front plot of the Sweetwater Community Garden, 5354 Sweetwater Road, Bonita.

These fundraisers, historically held on the Bonita Museum patio, enable the club to award scholarships to students of Cuyamaca and Southwestern Colleges.

Under the auspices of the San Diego Floral Association, the club decorates a fresh pine tree as part of the Festival of Trees, an annual event held during Balboa Park’s December Nights celebration.

Monthly field trips, related to the club’s mission are offered each year. This gives members the opportunity for fellowship and in-person exploration outside the confines of regular meeting time.

We sign up at our general meetings to meet the following Wednesday for a planned floral workshop. There is a minimum fee and we have outstanding instructors who share their knowledge of floral design.

The December meeting deviates from the norm by having no outside speaker. Instead, members enjoy a tasty brunch and revel in the spirit of the holidays and winter solstice.

The club year concludes in June with a festive brunch where outgoing officers are recognized and the new year officers are installed.

The big spring plant sale, historically held on the Bonita Museum Patio, raises funds for scholarships at Cuyamaca and Southwestern Colleges.

Club members reconnect in August for a relaxing late afternoon party of good company, food, drink, and music in a member’s beautiful garden.

In service to the Bonita community, some club members walk the Stephanie Rossi Trail Thursday* mornings and pick up trash that has accumulated each week. They meet in the Bonnie Brae Shopping Center parking lot, east of Starbucks, at 8 a.m. in the summer and 8:30 a.m., fall through spring.

*The exception to this is the last Thursday of the month where you will find members tending the rose garden at St. John’s beginning at 9 a.m.
